Location
If you've ever visited the Lincoln Memorial, you'll know how crowded it is. I was waiting for my mother while she visited the shop and I turned around to see this impressive angle of his statue. The lines, framing and contour of light drew me in and I knew it would make an impressive photo.Time
This was taken late afternoon, as the sun was slowly moving behind the entire structure.Lighting
I love the contrast between light and dark. The memorial is beautiful and does a great job of capturing the light and reflection off the reflection pool to shine within, adding depth to his statue.Equipment
I'm a self-taught photographer who only takes photos of things I find some intrigue in - angle, lighting, contrast, etc. - and only have an iPhone 8.Inspiration
Everyone always takes pictures of Abe's statue from the front or slight side. I was inspired by the way the columns framed him, creating this beautiful contrast between the darker column and the lighter column. It's haunting yet inspiring.Editing
I don't do any post-processing.In my camera bag
Since I'm self-taught and never took photography classes, I rely on my iPhone 8.Feedback
I'm not a professional and I have no schooling on what a photo should consist of BUT, I'm a big believer that people see beauty in insignificant things all the time. Capture what stirs something within you, even if it's just for you.
