This photo was captured as part of coverage for an asian wedding. It was captured at the chosen venue in Darlington uk.Time
This was taken in the late morning, I waited for it to be slightly overcast before I captured the shot.Lighting
I wanted this image to look even and have no distracting shadows or harsh light. Although it was a sunny day at the time, I waited for it to be slightly overcast before shooting the image. This give a nice even soft light to the whole scene and the subject as the clouds diffused the light.Equipment
I used my nikon D5100 with the 18-55mm f 3.5 lensInspiration
I truely believe that the best photographs from events such as this are the natural ones. They are visually pleasing and provide emotion that is real. As this was the first asian wedding i had covered, infact it was the first ever wedding I had covered I looked into wedding photography quite a bit before hand and decided I wanted to capture the real emotion of the day. I captured this particular image while the bride was having a conversation with her sister - after taking the posed shot.Editing
the only post processing I did to this image was a slight crop to improve the compositionIn my camera bag
my camera bag is always packed and ready to go, I have my nikon D5100 camera body, 50mm lens, 18-55mm lens, 18-250 mm lens. I always make sure I am armed with memory cards and carry at least 3 (the ones I currently have are 32gb, 16gb x 2), flash gun loaded with batteries, spare battries for flash gun and camera. however I am hoping to invest in a camera upgrade soon.Feedback
Advice I would give to others would be relax, make your subject feel comfortable, shoot as you have conversations so they become used to the camera, to capture a natural portrait your subject needs to be at ease, capture lots of images and look, look for the "little moments". the look or the smile that means something, the expresssion that shows the subjects feelings and personality.
