Location
This photo was taken in Greenland, Rode Island. We were sailing Scoresbysund (a 2 weeks cruise with The Rembrandt). (August 27, 2017)Time
It was around 3 pm, we had magnificent weather conditions, cold but sunny and hardly any wind. Perfect to make some pictures of icebergs reflecting in the water.Lighting
In the zodiac we came so close to the giant icebergs in the iceberg graveyard of Rode Island. Breathtaking castles of ice. Like cruising in a fairytale. White, blue, cold but inviting structures. The rumble of the decay is audible, a little threatening as well.Equipment
I just handheld my Nikon D750, with the 24-120 4G zoomlens. The light ws fabulous, so lower ISO but enough to have a speed as well since we're moving in a zodiak.Inspiration
This castle like iceberg catches my eye immediately. A stately big castle of ice. A standing photo captured the allure best, since it is all about the structure.Editing
I hardly do any post-processing. Just enough to make my raw picture look perfect in LightroomIn my camera bag
I take my Nikon D750 together with the 24-120 G4 zoom lens, the 50mm fixed focus 1.4, the 35mm, fixed focus 1.8, 70-300 4.5-5.6 zoomlens When shooting on a fixed location I'll bring my tripod as wellFeedback
Being on a cruise on a schedule, there is just that moment of the day you're offered. No choice of waiting for another day or better moment of light. You have to take what you can get. Get into the landscape, enjoy and be happy what is there and you will notice that particular kind of beauty.
