Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was captured at the Blackhawk Auto Museum in Blackhawk, California.

Time

This was taken indoors in the afternoon while checking out the awesome collection with my wife.

Lighting

The lighting in the museum was tricky, but a polarizing filter helped.

Equipment

The was shot with my old reliable Canon T3 with the kit 18-50mm lens, surprisingly. Which goes to show that you don't need the latest, most expensive gear to get good shots!

Inspiration

It's not very often to see such a beautiful example of a car like this, not to mention the red paint screams "sports car" like no other color.

Editing

Very little post-production needed, slight color adjustment and slight lighting touch up in Photoshop Elements.

In my camera bag

I normally carry my trusty Canon T3, with my 3 lenses; 18-55mm, 75-300, and my 50mm. I also carry a Manfrotto tripod, 18% grey card, 3-axis bubble level, spare sd cards, and spare batteries. Can't be too prepared!

Feedback

If I were to offer any advice on shooting cars, I would say to first ask yourself what about the car speaks to you. Spend some time thinking about what you see. In this case, I really felt the grill and headlight really screamed for attention. Also, don't be afraid to get down next to the car. Experiment! And most of all, have fun!
