The form of logging that is mostly done on Vancouver Island, "clear cutting". It is the most economical way to harvest the logs but is the most damaging to the ecosystem and the aesthetics of the forest. and is the most wasteful with many logs left behind that could be responsible for the hiring of hundreds more people. Unfortunately our Provincial Government has no backbone when it comes time to negotiate with the logging companies that own most of the private land on Vancouver Island. I've just finished reading a couple of reports and my blood is about to boil. I have to see if there is some organization that is capaple of doing something about the situation and volunteer!
