This image of a White-lined Sphinx Moth was taken in my garden in 2014. Thus far this year, I've seen one of these large beauties. I'm hoping we might enjoy prolific numbers of these giant pollinators again this year. In this image, the moth is sipping nectar from an Agastache-Hummingbird Mint plant (of which I have planted many this year).

Awesome capture. I saw tons of them last year, but only one tiny one this year.

Did you get some good images last year (sorry, I don't remember!) Or do they allude you the same way that dragonflies do? ッ

You're absolutely right, H . . . they are about as quick as hummingbirds when they are dining on flower nectar. Appreciate the accolades! ッ

It's what most people call a moth . . . except for those who call it a hummingbird (in error, of course!) ッ

Thank you, dear Lizzie . . . I think that another name for the Sphinx Moth (this is a White-lined Sphinx) are related, and lots of people here in the States often confuse these large moths for hummingbirds.
