Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my apartment in Western Australia. I have a courtyard that when I moved in was infested with Redback spiders, as I'm a self taught photographer I'm always looking for unique angles to shoot different subjects.

Time

This was taken in the mid afternoon just as the sun was starting to drop.

Lighting

I really wanted to catch the bright red on this juveniles back Redbacks are normally black as they mature so to get the colours to really stand out was important and the contrast of the wood that's why i chose to shoot it in the shade

Equipment

This was taken with a Canon 5d and canon macro lens

Inspiration

As I said I'm self taught so I'm always looking for new and different things to shoot and I love wildlife so I wasn't going to pass the opportunity up.

Editing

The only post processing I did to this photo was enhance the contrast slightly to really make that red pop

In my camera bag

I have a Canon 450d which is nice and versatile I also have a Canon 5d which is my main tool of choice. I have various lenses from macro lenses up to telelenses depend on what I'm shooting on the day

Feedback

Patience is key if I've learnt one thing you might take 100 photos and only get 1 good shot but don't give up, perseverance is worth the reward
