Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken in the studio. This was the very first assignment I got from my college faculties to portray to a similar reference picture. Since this was my first image that I worked on with the studio lights, it was pretty challenging.

Time

This image was taken during the afternoon time and had worked in the studio.

Lighting

Just wanted to highlight the model and the Product (watch) properly, which definitely is a challenge. It is a challenge not just for me but for all because, we can't let the studio light highlight the watch too much as it might get over-exposed. So i had to cut the light in a proper manner everytime the model posed, so that the light falls in a proper amount. Since both the things in the frame are important.

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon 700D, with a macro lens i.e canon 100mm and a single elinchrom FRX400.

Inspiration

When we had to shortlist some images for the assignment, I came across a similar image and wondered how people can be so perfect with the lights, camera angle, model pose, etc. So I definitely wanted to try to portray something similar in the ways of playing with the studio lights.

Editing

Since I'm a fashion Photographer, it definitely requires post processing. I have retouched the models face and converted the image to black and white, and also played with the curves and level adjustments.

In my camera bag

I always have my Nikon D850, the kit lens 24-120mm f/4, the prime lens 85mm f/1.8. 85mm is one of my favorite since it gives really very good and sharp portraits. Secondly 24-120mm is my favorite due to the wide angle I get in the fashion shoots. I also have my camera battery and the charger (MOST IMPORTANT), my SD Card cause and a Godox Ad200.

Feedback

Only one advice I would give is, always highlight the model and the product, don't let any of the thing go dull in the frame.
