Serendipity..
I go on long drives sometimes. In the fall of 2013 I decided to drive around the United States. I think we still call them that ;). On my way back from the west coast I went through Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks with my newly acquired DSLR, a Canon T3i. After a long lifetime of taking photographs I was just starting to get serious about photography but still had (and have) a long way to go. As I was leaving the Grand Teton NP and heading towards my next planned destination I noticed a parking spot by the side of the road with a lot of cars. The thought that comes to mind is "must be a bear or moose nearby". I stopped and noticed that these weren't normal people, these were "tripod people", like me, and most were pointing their cameras across a wonderful bend in the river towards the reflection of the morning light on the Teton Range.
I had no clue about this place before I pulled over and parked, but once there immediately knew it was one of the most memorable and beautiful places I have been to. Everyone else there that I talked to seemed to have gone there on purpose, knowing all about "Oxbow Bend" and lucky me just happened to stumble upon it on one of the most glorious mornings possible. Perhaps because of that it became an even better experience for me. I have stopped there since but haven't have the wonderful conditions of that serendipitous day.
That is Mt Moran reflecting in the Oxbow Bend area of the Snake River.
