Osprey in Nest

At New Melones Lake they are trying to encourage Osprey to nest and mate. This plastic 4' diameter pan, is atop a 40' pole near the museum and is one of many around the lake. Got an early start and was rewarded with these mates in nest. As the male starts to take off, I captured him in almost full wingspan. What magnificent birds they are. He is either going hunting, or to gather more tree branches for the nest.
