While on an expedition at Kohukohu on the Hokianga Harbour, in the north of New Zealand, in 2014, I photographed this extremely rare white-phase reef heron (Egretta sacra) near the wharf. This is the second-ever recorded sighting of a white morph heron in New Zealand, the first being in Christchurch, South Island, in 1987.
