Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Trondheim Norway we were on a 3 week tour through Norway for my 50th birthday celebration. Best decision ever! Our ship the The Richard With from the Hurtigruten fleet docked there, so we took a day trip to Trondheim. It was in October which is their Autumn season. We were so lucky not a lot of tourists were there so taking photos was easy for not fighting for a good spot. Only problem was..we were almost late for our departing ship! It was absolutely mesmerizing so see the reflections of the old timber houses on the water.

Time

This was taken around 11 o'clock in the morning. Daylight hours is very restricted in Norway during the autumn, but better than in full blast winter! And the sky is almost all the time overcast, but it also makes it very interesting photos.

Lighting

As it is almost 100% of the short daylight overcast during Autumn all the photos was taken in low daylight. Which I love because it gives it a different feeling, the moodiness etc.

Equipment

This photo was taken with my small fugifilm XP 20m /1.74m camera. No tripods only slow steady movement with body trying to keep it as still as possible.....

Inspiration

The colors of the old timber houses reflecting on the glass super still water was absolutely mesmerizing, it was difficult to leave as any photographer would understand, but I had to do it fast as we were on a time schedule!

Editing

Yes I had to do some post-processing to clean the photo a little bit and because it is really dark with the clouds overhead. I used my Canon digital photo editor.

In my camera bag

I pack my Fugifilm XP and my Canon EOS7d and Canon EOS5Dsr. Definitely the chargers for the batteries and extra batteries for each camera. The cable for downloading my photos on my laptop and backup.

Feedback

I learn every day more and more about photography and try to read as much as possible about the topic. I definitely see myself as an amateur which enjoy photography immensely. This photo of mine was taken on the setting for panorama, the best advice is try to keep as steady as possible and take a lot of photos! Try to angle the camera with every take differently until you find the desired image.
