Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo while staying at Marina Bay Sands for one night. It was New Year's eve and that evening, my husband and I decided to go down to the fountain to see the Sound and Light show. It was spectacular and absolutely free too.

Time

It was 9.30 pm Singapore time (+8 hrs GMT). Singapore is generally a hot and humid place but in the evenings, as Marina Bay Sands was situated on the seafront, there was a lovely breeze...so it was a cool and dry night.

Lighting

The Sound and Light show featured fountains displaying to a storyline. There were lasers, mist and colourful visual projections. I managed to catch the giant bird coming into the story. As usual, it was purely point and shoot with me. I guess I just got lucky.

Equipment

I used my Panasonic FZ1000 bridge camera. No tripod and no special flash.

Inspiration

I love photography and always carry my camera with me wherever I go.

Editing

I didn't do any post-processing except to crop unnecessary details out - perhaps a shadow here or the back of someone's head there.

In my camera bag

I normally carry just the camera and a spare battery. If I were to go for a longer trip, I'd take an extra SD card as well.

Feedback

Go to the Sound and Light show when you're next in Singapore. You won't regret it.
