Namiri Plains is located an hour and a half's drive due east from the game-rich core of the Serengeti – Seronera. The camp opened in July 2014 in an area that for more than 20 years had been closed to the public. Previously this region had exclusively been used for cheetah conservation and the number of big cats found here – especially lion prides and cheetahs – is astonishing.

This was taken in the remote area of the Serengeti around an hour and a half's drive due east from the Seronera airstrip.Time
This was taken late in the morning. We had stopped for breakfast under a tree around 9:30 and was packing up around 10:10 when the wildebeest and zebra herds that we had been watching started picking up pace. We waited and these two boys came over the ridge.Lighting
Light was pretty poor, this time of year is known as the short rains which means a lot of overcast days and some heavy showers.Equipment

The brazen attitude of the cheetahs, the way they just walk through the wildebeest herds splitting them up hoping something weak or small gets separated and becomes an easy target. We watched these two boys for a good 40 minutes or so.Editing
I cropped the image to 16 x 9 to remove some dead space at the front of the image. Applied a basic Lightroom preset to give it a bit more of a richer golden tone and adjusted the exposure slightly.In my camera bag

Be prepared to wait, be quiet and above all be patient. Watch your subjects let them come to you, never chase. Get a good guide and share your vehicle with like minded people.
