This photo was taken at Little Talbot Island State Park near Jacksonville, FloridaTime
This was taken early to mid morning on the beach.Lighting
It was a clear sunny morning, which gave good shadows and contrast.Equipment
I was using a Cannon Rebel 3TI, with a 18-55mm lens, I just acquired a Hendysn ball and socket tripod, that has a detachable post which allowed me to get really low and be able to shoot under the driftwood tree. I usually shoot manual ISO 100, using a wide angle so I can get the sharpest detail.Inspiration
I've seen pictures similar to this done by the amazing Clyde Butcher, so I really can't take credit for originality, but love Cylde;s work, and the stories behind his photos, Check out his website if you have never seen his work, www.clydebutcher.com Clyde's work is not just amazing but he still works in the darkroom and shoots with old 8x10 cameras, the quality he gets is amazing.Editing
I use both Adobe Photoshop and Light room for my post processing, I think I only needed minor adjustments on this photo, usually the better the photo, the less processing you need to do, I find this to be a true in my case.In my camera bag
I'm pretty basic, a Cannon Rebel with 18-55mm and a 70-300mm telephoto lens. I always use a tripod. I also shoot a bit with my iPhone, but when using a tripod with your iPhone and some basic techniques you can get some amazing photos. I believe it's what you do with your tools you have and not what equipment you own that counts. But I would gladly shoot with better equipment as my pocket book allows! :) Better tools generally produces better quality.Feedback
I've been shooting in the blue hours, near Sunrise and Sunset, and I would say that lighting makes all the difference from a good to a great shot. Also finding new places to shoot, I was traveling though Jacksonville and planned a special stop to do a shoot at Little Talbot Lake State Park, because I knew there was some great scenery there. Sometimes when you make the effort to travel to a new area to photograph it pays off. Also when taking photos try different angles and perspectives it will give you more variety in your work.
