With Seattle across Puget Sound in the background, everyone in a hurry,,,the city full of activity and "life", when only across the water, time can stand still in the moment of a beautiful sunset in an empty chair FULL of Gratitude...

This image was taken at the Point No Point Lighthouse and State Park in Washington State. There are many creations there that are made from Branches of driftwood that are really spectacular to look at, this was only one of them.Time
It was actually taken in the afternoon, there was a breeze coming off of Puget Sound, where the lighthouse sits. There is also a view the Straight of Juan DeFuca, as well as a long distance shot of Seattle across the sound, and if you look REALLY hard you can see the border of Canada from there!Lighting
It was a beautifully sunny day, and I remember thinking how cool the light was actually being shaded from this chair because of a large tree looming over it.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Canon Rebel T5, handheld, no tripod and no flash. Just me, the camera and the chair.Inspiration
When I first saw it, I thought Wow, how talented someone had to be to find the driftwood to put it together like that, and then I noticed, that in it's over-sizeness, that it looked to be SOOOOOO very FULL of emptiness. It was almost like it had a life of it's own that was bigger than life, but only few could see it and appreciate it for that. I felt blessed to be one of those people.Editing
I wanted to emphasize the fullness of the empty, make it almost outwardly dramatic, and the only way I could think of to do that was to devoid the color, and go black and white with it. In the 2 tone color, it seems to give it much MORE life than trying to capture the little bits of green and white bushes behind it and the grass below it.In my camera bag
Because I am still a "beginner" I only usually have my Canon Rebel T5, the charger, an extra card, and a 300 lens. That's pretty much it. I'm not comfortable with tripod work yet, but I'm getting there.Feedback
TRUST what you see in your minds eye when you look at something and it's beauty strikes you and inspires you...to get the shot. It almost feels like you see the picture in your mind before you can see it in your camera, and then it grows from there in processing to take on a life of its own, not only capturing the vision of it, but the feelings you had while you were taking it. At least that is how I do it. I have to "feel" the picture before I can just "take it".
