Moraine park is in Rocky Mountain National Park Colorado. Elevation is around 8500 feet above sea level at this point. Rutting season for the elk is September and October. The Bull has 32 cows in his harem. A bull will lose 30% of his body weight during the rut because he has to keep the cows together, defend the harem from other bulls and the obvious.
