Wildfire at dawn, taken during the Wolf River wildfire. Spent the cold morning covered in mosquitos and choking on smoke, to witness the beautiful side of one of nature's most destructive and potent forces. The beauty was haunted by the crashing sounds, as rocks on the mountainside shattered and dropped to the lake.
Nothing equals the experiences I've had chasing wildfires in our area, unfortunately with more frequency as the forests experience changes in length and extremes of season. I am both humbled and horrified by what I have witnessed, but also enchanted by the shear power of nature in both destruction and creation born of the ashes.
Nikon D3000, minimal editing.
