Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my old apartment in Sydney, Australia. These lorikeets, along with sulfur crested cockatoos would visit on a daily basis, either at the kitchen window or on the balcony. Both bird species were more than willing to pose for me, each time I would take pictures.

Time

This was taken after a rainy afternoon when the birds would often land on the balcony and groom themselves.

Lighting

It was taken on a rainy afternoon with overcast skies making it perfect. Normally, it would've been too bright to take a decent picture.

Equipment

Surprisingly, this was taken on my old mobile (cell) phone -- a Galaxy S7. I always use the Pro option so I have control of my shots as I don't own a DSLR yet.

Inspiration

The spectacular colours of these birds and their timidness. I could always get up close and personal and they would be willing to pose for the camera.

Editing

No.

In my camera bag

I'm using my mobile phone at this stage but once I have my DSLR, this will be a game changer for me and my photography.

Feedback

Patience in getting the best angle or pose by the birds. I have a different shot that was taken with a much older phone and the pair of birds had formed a heart-shape when they were grooming themselves.
