As we drove a small dusty road looking for a perfect spot to see Mount Denali in all its glory, we noticed an open gate between a few trees and caught a glimpse of the mountain. I asked my husband to reverse the SUV. Through the trees, I was just able to make out this amazing view. My husband boldly drove through the gates - I on the other hand freaked. "In the USA people can shoot us for trespassing!" I shouted. But as I turned around I saw this - I forgot all about the possibilities of being shot and grabbed my camera and took a few images. There seemed to be none home but the owner had found his piece of heaven! As we got into the SUV to drive out, another SUV drove in - it was the owner! He was a fantastic man - a retired US Marine General and talked us into staying for coffee. One of the many memorable days we experienced in Alaska!
