Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in Marlott Park near Kruger National Park in South Africa. The tree was in our lodge's backyard and iluminated on purpose. There were all kinds of animals rushing through the bushes towards the nearby waterhole, which was a bit frightening but also amazing.

Time

It must've been between 8 and 10 PM. We were experimenting a lot.

Lighting

The light on the tree ist artificial but just enough to make a nice contrast to the nicht sky.

Equipment

It was shot using my landscape favorite 16-35mm 4.0 L IS USM from Canon as well as my new EOS 6D MK II.

Inspiration

We had dinner under that beautiful South African sky, so I wanted to capture it!

Editing

There have been a few contrast and color enhancements applied using Adobe Lightroom.

In my camera bag

I tend to carry nearly all of my stuff with me on journeys, yet pick what I want to take in my daybag. Thats usually something between my 24-70mm 2.8 USM L II for close ups, the aforementioned 16-35mm for landscape and cityscape and the 70-200 2.8 USM L, Just because I love it and in case I feel better with a tele with me. My 50mm STM always goes with me and comes in action, when I feel like.

Feedback

Try different settings, use a tripod and an intervalometer (the MK II has it included!) and take your time to experiment!
