The Alaska Range, home of the tallest mountain in North America, Mt. Denali (20,310 ft.) is a 400 mile stretch of rugged peaks that span from the southcentral region of Alaska, to the southeast end of the White River in Canada’s Yukon Territory.
These mountains act barrier to the flow of moist air from the nearby Gulf of Alaska, and therefore had some of the harshest weather in the world. With the moist air also comes heavy snowfall, and contributes to large numbers of glaciers that stretch across a large amounts of valleys and mountain faces.
