Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in my brand new home studio. It was a series photos for trying the lights.

Time

This photo was taken at the end of the afternoon, February 7 at 17:35.

Lighting

I wanted a soft lighting, so I used reflectors to give a mysterious and dramatic atmosphere.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D7100 with 18.0-140.0 mm f/3.5-5.6. I used a black background with 2 light tripods with pure white bulb 8x45 W and 2 softboxes

Inspiration

What inspired me to shoot this photo is my model. She has incredible emotional strength in her eyes.

Editing

The post-treatment took me a few minutes, the light and the rendering was just perfect, so I treated this picture in an extra black and white version to see the atmosphere that this version could bring, but at final black and white version was disappearing this dramatic and mysterious atmosphere.

In my camera bag

I still have my Nikon D7100 in my bag, but recently I do not go shooting without my Olympus E-M5 and my 12-40mm F2.8 a perfect lens for street photography and portrait.

Feedback

To capture this atmosphere the first thing is to test the lighting and once you have found the right balance you have to focus on your model. The second part is the part I prefer, is to talk with his model, put him in a situation. A bit like an interview, which is even more difficult with children. The main thing is to get them to stay themselves. The portrait is for me a human exploration of the soul that I call HUMEX
