It seemed a bit less enthusiastic than me about our meeting.

Behind The Lens

Location

McLaughlin Road, just outside Brampton, Ontario,

Time

late afternoon 4:30-5:00p.m.

Lighting

Generally overcast, snow still in the air, just after a late season light snow fall.

Equipment

Canon Ti. No tripod, no flash, Likely with my 100-400 mm.

Inspiration

Love Snowy Owls, I keep a watch on EBird web site to see when they'll likely start to move into Southern Ontario. They love the area near a small airport, likely because of the abundance of field mice, which is close to one of their staples up north-lemming.

Editing

Probably did a bit of clean up with my computer's built in photo enhancer/programme. I may have cropped this one a bit. I was approaching this one from a laneway after I spotted it from the roadway. I really should keep boots in the truck.

In my camera bag

Just a few lenses and cleaning clothes

Feedback

I think the real trick is to keep on the look out for anything that catches your fancy and take a picture or several of it. Many shots are just fleeting moments, and so easily lost. Now, I take a lot longer to drive in to work, because I'm always looking for the next barn/animal/interesting bit of rust, whatever. It's all about the hunt and not as much about how great a photo player you are, or how much post production programming you can bring to bear on a photo.
