Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Uppsala Cathedral, in the town Uppsala in Sweden. This was the first time I visited the cathedral and it is amazing with its high space that gives a reverent feeling. The ceiling above the altar is painted blue like a sky and the glass cross radiates a transcendent light, which together gives a light and free feeling. As I imagine God's heaven is. Wikipedia: "Uppsala Cathedral is a cathedral in the Gothic style (exterior mainly a neo-Gothic brick imitation of French high Gothic around a medieval frame). It is a cathedral in Uppsala Archdiocese, a parish church for Uppsala Cathedral Parish and a national shrine for the Church of Sweden. In the church, St. Erik's relics are stored in Erik's casket and a relic of Saint Birgitta in a silver casket in Finstakoret. Saint Erik later became Sweden's national saint and Saint Birgitta became Europe's patron saint. The church has also traditionally been the Swedish coronation church for new kings and queens. It was finally inaugurated in 1435 and had Sankt Erik, Sankt Lars and Sankt Olof as patron saints."

Time

During the daytime.

Lighting

There was limited light because the church windows do not let in much daylight. But the window at the front of the church, gives an extra spiritual dimension of light behind the cross and the altar.

Equipment

My camera in the this opportunity was an Samsung, mobilephoto.

Inspiration

I wanted to "immortalize" the beautiful and stately church with my photo if it would work. I was impressed by the beautiful architecture and the altar's alien feeling of divinity and light.

Editing

I have not done much finishing of the photo, some improvement in sharpness.

In my camera bag

I think it is convenient to use the mobile camera which is now always available and is of relatively good quality. But the optimal is when I use my Canon EOS which gives a higher quality of sharpness and depth as well as the color space in the photo.

Feedback

Visit the beautiful churches that are found all over the world, as with its fantastic architecture that gives you a sacred and spiritual experience. Which make you use the camera to try to capture this, albeit "impossible". It may still be worth a try if you want.
