Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Elephant Rocks State Park in Missouri.

Time

We explored the park in the afternoon. It was cold outside and these blue buds on the pine trees were so interesting.

Lighting

I wanted the image to have depth, looking more interesting. So I positioned myself with the perfect lighting on the subject.

Equipment

This was shot with my Canon 60D, with a sigma lens. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

I was inspired by using the outdoor elements and having a closer portrait image.

Editing

I shoot everything in raw so having that data helped correct any imperfections. I used photoshop to do color editing along with doing any light sharpening. I used a lighting effect to help make it more dramatic.

In my camera bag

I now shoot with a Canon Mark iii with a sigma 35mm prime lens. Tripod and Flash.

Feedback

Explore nature is the best advice. Changing the angles and trying different positions is the best way to learn what style best fits the photographer.
