Christmas in Merida at the Hostal Zocalo

Funky, always under construction and very eclectic Hostal Zocalo, located on the main plaza in Merida (Yucatan, Mexico) plays host to backpacker or Anthropologist. Reasonably priced and bare bones, but with comfy mattresses and clean surroundings, it's ideally located in the heart of the downtown area. Any nationality one can think of can be found at the huge breakfast table every morning, where a huge free breakfast of papayas, bananas, pineapples, warm bread with omelets and morning after chat sets the tone for the day. Love it!
