Location
This photograph was taken a lovely spot in Crosby Liverpool it is called "another place"and is home to 100 life size iron statues called the iron men by Anthony gormley. They are spread along a 3 km stretch of the beach at Crosby and 1 km into the Irish sea ,and they look amazing in the sunset as they are Silhouetted against the beautiful golden sky.The iron man in my image stands left to the long pipeline which also runs out to sea ,when the tide is in.When the tide is out you can walk along it .Time
on this day it started out quite dull and all my hopes of photographing the wonderful sunset were dashed, but come mid afternoon the sun came out in all its glory, little did i know that this was going to be one of the most terrifying days of my life,i was alone and clicking away with my camera as the sunset was amazing and i was mesmorised and excited by the sight, it was later in the year so once the sun when down it became a little dark ,i started making my way back ,well as i thought, then i found i couldn't move an inch ,because i was so involved in my photo shoot i hadn't noticed that i had sunk into the quicksand right up to the top of my wellingtons ,the more i tried to pull out my feet the more it sucked me in ,it started to fill my boots which made it even harder to move my life passed before my eyes ,i was terrified ,after what seemed a lifetime i fell backwards into the wet sand and was able to scramble on my back using my elbows, as my legs were now released with the fall ,i was soaked to the skin and full of muddy sand but thankfully alive,i didn't realize how far out i had gone ,so there was nobody anywhere near me ,after the horrid event, one of my friends remarked" its a lovely picture though,so it was worth it" she said, i hope you think so too ,i myself am not sure,i still get the shivers when i go there and it took almost a year before i was able to return. p s not once did i let my camera go lol .Lighting
I find no need for any special equipment e.g. lighting ,flashes, in this image the sun does it all an reflects beautifully on the sea and wet sandEquipment
This image was shot with my Nikon D90 and believe it or not was set on auto no other equipment required or used.Inspiration
This venue always inspires me because there is no need for special lighting, the sun does all i require, as photography is just a hobby of mine it suits me fine ,i only shoot on auto as this is all i understand, and i do get some good results,Editing
I just brightened it up a little ,nothing else, the image is pretty much as i photographed it.In my camera bag
All i have in my bag is my D90 camera and one macro lens and a spare battery which for me is adequate .Feedback
My advice is if you're new to photography ,you don't have to be a master of it to get good results obviously the more you know and learn about your camera and all its features the better.Because i am not the brightest button in the box nor the sharpest pin ,i do the best that i can with my limited knowledge.I do however so admire professionals and the wonderful work and images they turn out .
