Some friends and I hiked to this old derelict house in the middle of the woods in upstate New York, where I made this photograph. Abandoned by its inhabitants in the 1940s (we deduced from documents strewn about), we didn't dare venture inside because the floors and ceilings we ready to cave in. This image was taken from the doorway of the back entrance.
