Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken in Las Terrenas, close to the beach, where a painter created in front of his house his own studio. I caught him fixing some woods, so I shot him with a hammer in his hand, instead of a brush, but I think this is part of the photo's charm.Time
It was midday, so the sun was shining bright.Lighting
Since it was midday and the sun did the work, I did not need any extra lighting. Happily though, the painter was sitting in the shadow along with the paintings he has behind him, so I was able to capture everything in one shot.Equipment
Canon 6D II, Sigma lens 35mm f1.4 artInspiration
The beauty of his paintings and how lovely the painter is. People in the Dominican Republic live life to the fullest and are really happy, regardless of their economic situation. I love street photography especially because of this: people are as they come, they don't have time to prepare and neither does the photographer. It 's all raw and vivid, as if you capture a moment in time, otherwise gone.Editing
I did a little post-processing: raised the warmth a bit and the saturation, and then gave the photo a cinematic feel by fading it a bit.In my camera bag
Canon 6D II. I have two lenses I usually use: Canon 85mm f1.8 and the lovely Sigma 85 mm f 1.4 art.Feedback
Know your camera! I also photographed his daughter: a beautiful 8-year-old with bright blue eyes, but due to poor lighting the photo seems a bit shaken. I know I regret not being prepared for that!
