This photo was taken along an enclosed stretch of river called Oude Durme in Hamme East Flanders Belgium. As a amateur weather photographer I regularly shoot there pictures for national television.Time
I took this photo at 14:49:00 on February 8, 2018. It was a day with sun and clouds, so I was able to capture this beautiful reflection. It took a while until the sun was in the right place and there were no clouds in front of the sun so I had the right amount of light.Lighting
I always try to keep the ISO as low as possible so that you have a view that gets as close as possible to the image perceived by the eyes in the photo afterwards. If I can keep the shutter speed above 1 / 100th by playing with the aperture, I can still shoot out off hand. This is photographed ISO 200 F5 1/200 24mmEquipment
At that time I was working with a Nikon D800, the lens is a Nikon 24-70 F2.8 without tripod.Inspiration
That day I was out with my wife to make some weather images like every day. I saw the reflection get better and better and yes I took some pictures with the result on the screenEditing
this photo has been converted from RAW to jpeg with Adobe software. After almost two years, I can no longer say what the adjustments were.In my camera bag
Usually I now work with a Nikon D850a 24-70 f 2.8 a 70-200 F2.8 a 105mm F2.8 as a backup camera a Nikon Z5 with suitable lenses as a last resort i use an iphone pro which i also use to forward images when i can't go straight to the home baseFeedback
Going out a lot, and especially taking a lot of photos, and looking afterwards what is the result at which setting. This is not always easy to see on the small screen of a camera. Learning to read the histogram is super important and helps to achieve a good end result
