Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken right off Highway 14 near Stevenson, Wa

Time

I was able to capture this photo during the early morning twilight and blue hour

Lighting

I tend to shoot cooler temperature photo so blue hour helps me achieve that feeling in camera versus post processing

Equipment

The camera I used was a Sony a6000 with a Zeiss 16-35mm f/4 and a Bonfoto tripod

Inspiration

I was inspired to take this photo by the abandoned mine shaft next to the waterfall. It was kind of creepy to walk into but added an interesting aspect to the photo

Editing

I always shoot in RAW picture format so that I’m able to process the image to my liking. As far as photoshop goes, I added the light coming from the mine shaft because the one that I had originally had placed in there wasn’t shining as bright as I wanted it too.

In my camera bag

Since this photo I have upgraded to the Sony a7iii and now have the Zeiss 24-70mm f/4 and the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8

Feedback

The best advice I can give is that there are so many gems that can be accessed with a little bit of research. Lastly, don’t stop learning new editing techniques. Technology is great and there are some many creators out there that make learning easier and more convenient.
