Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken a studio in Baltimore, Maryland

Time

I made this image about noon.

Lighting

Lighting this image came with several trials, however to increase drama I settled on a large gridded softbox camera right and slightly above the model.

Equipment

This particular image was shot with a Canon EOS 60 D along with a pocket wizard to trigger the strobe.

Inspiration

The model showed some dynamic poses during earlier parts of the shoot, and we decided to do a dramatic hair flip. Her blond hair worked well with the lighting that was already present.

Editing

I adjusted the highlights and shadows in the image to but that was about it.

In my camera bag

Normally I shoot with a 24-105, however I also carry a 70-200 lens as well as a 50 mm prime

Feedback

Timing is critical in shots like this. A count down either by the model or photographer will often help. Multiple exposures are almost always necessary since an early shutter or late will loose much of the drama.
