Location
This photo was taken in a back stairwell of the Minnesota State Capital Building.Time
As an indoor shot the time of day is slightly less important but this was mid-day.Lighting
There are many windows in this area bringing in natural light which really made the wood show it's colorEquipment
This shot was taken on my Nikon D3400, no flash.Inspiration
I was inspired by the repeating square design that guided the eye of the viewer.Editing
I did some mild color and exposure adjustment in Lightroom to bring out the brown/oranges of the wood.In my camera bag
Honestly, I only usually carry my D3400 with the two stock lenses that came with it. It takes great shots for an amateur like myself. I do bring a tripod and a mountable flash with me, though most of my shots are outdoors nature I don't use the flash much.Feedback
The advice I would give is to look for a pattern that repeats towards an endpoint, but don't focus on that endpoint. It will give the viewer a natural place to put their focus but will allow them to see the details in the repeat. Shooting up or down stairwells, towers, structures, etc. make for beautiful architecture photos.
