This was taken around 11 in the morning because the light coming through the large window bright but soft, giving the shoot a soft glow.Lighting
The light is one directional, and I only used the light coming from the window, the model had to move around a fair bit until I was happy but it was worth it in the endEquipment
I use my Nikon D5600 50mm lens, as it was a small room and I didn’t want the model to feel like I was in his face with something big. Th aim was to relax and not over crowd the model and that comes across in the whole shoot.Inspiration
BDSM, fifty shades, are hot topics and seem perfect for a boudoir photo shoot with a twist. I wanted to showcase that boudoir wasn’t just for women to give their partners but a man could do something sexy for themselves and their partner.Editing
I had to remove a lot of noise from shooting in a low light setting. I adjusted the colour and removed a couple of marks on the model that weren’t normally there. I went with a black and white process as it gives the image a classical look.In my camera bag
The first thing I pack is my shoot plan, it doesn’t have to be an in-depth plan but it helps to have some thing to fall back on. I like to plan for difficulties, lighting, space, mood etc... extra paper and pen for on the spot new plans. My current camera the Nikon D5600 (waiting on my D850 to arrive) and a close up prime lens either a 50mm or a 85mm and zoom lens of your choice. But my advice would be paper and pen and what ever camera you’re using.Feedback
Talk to your model, the more you can build a working relationship with the model the more you can get out of the shoot. If your awkward the shoot will be awkward. This is definitely a time where you need to fake it to make it. If your not comfortable with the model taking their clothes off don’t start there. It’s better to warm up to removing the clothes then starting there. Props before the shoot do a bit of show and tell with the model, explain how you want the model to use, look and feel about the props especially when using anything new to them like the flogger in the photo.
