Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo right outside of the small town Dinosaur CO. This is a travel route we use a lot. This band of wild horses cross this route a couple times per year and I was so excited to actually get the chance to photograph them!

Time

This was shot later in the afternoon, I just happen to come across these wild horses and took the opportunity to get a photo.

Lighting

There was some scattered clouds which I always think makes for a more interesting photo.

Equipment

I shot this with my old Olympus e-510, f/10.0 ISO 1600. No other equipment.

Inspiration

I just happened to come across this band of wild horses, I’ve seen them once before on this route but didn’t have my camera with me. It’s not very often that you get a second chance to shoot something so special and I couldn’t pass it up!

Editing

I thought this would be beautiful in black and white since the lead horse was a black and white paint. I simply upped the contrast so the dimensions would pop in black and white.

In my camera bag

I love my new Canon 70-300 mm. I always have my external flash in my bag too just in case. I would love to get another opportunity to photograph these wild horses with my new camera, fingers crossed!

Feedback

Always take every opportunity you’re presented with even if you don’t have the perfect equipment.
