Behind The Lens

Location

I remember exactly when I took this photo it was 2017 in December and the exact date I think was the 20th a little before Christmas I was with two of my good friends and we were at cayucos Beach we were on the right side of the pier.

Time

It was in the late evening as the sun was setting on the horizon I saw a chance and I took it!????

Lighting

It was a beautiful perfect opportunity the sun was perfectly set as it was going down behind the horizon what the lighting of the Sun was shining off though water soap Sands of the shoreline as well as the sheen coming off the rocks and pebbles spotting the shore from where I took the picture.

Equipment

I was using the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and I was crouched down at about ground level just barely an inch off the ground if that I also had the phone in landscape view (sideways for those who are not familiar) and tilted toward me a little bit and I couldn't be happier with the result! ????????????

Inspiration

Honestly until this photo I really didn't have any interest in photography let alone videography actually funny enough I had always kind of been the kind of person that never really thought it was important to take pictures but after that photo I was hooked but before I saw how good it came out before I took that photo what inspired me to actually take it was the beautiful view I'd always had a great respect and love for the outdoors and nature but never really had any interest in capturing photographic memories with a phone or camera but the situation was just too perfect the setting was just right so I took advantage of an opportunity I couldn't pass up and because I didn't pass it up to this day I still am in love with photography it's one of my passions! ????????????????

Editing

Honestly... no. It was one of those photos that you take it and upon first review you think to yourself wow this is perfect! like you ever just take a photo and then look at it and be like "this couldn't have come out any better no edit needed!????"

In my camera bag

To be honest I don't have very much photography equipment for videography I use a stabilizer but when I'm doing just photography no filming involved I just use my hands no equipment no stabilizer or anyting but for this photo I used my cell phone as I mentioned before the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 I was using the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and I was crouched down at about ground level just barely an inch off the ground if that I also had the phone in landscape view (sideways for those who are not familiar) and tilted toward me a little bit and I couldn't be happier with the result! ????????????

Feedback

If I had any advice to give someone who's trying to capture a similar photo I would say make sure you're in the hard pack the part of the beach that's closer to the water that way you have the sheen of the water that's soaked into the sand and the rocks that wash up onto the shore and make sure you're at ground level with the phone sideways in other words landscape view and make sure your phone is tilted back towards you a little bit that way you can get the sky the beach and the ocean all in one picture but you got to have it just right otherwise you'll have not enough Beach and too much ocean in sky so make sure it's tilted but not too severely and of course make sure the sun is just setting on the horizon I suggest looking into apps that show you where the sun will set at what time and where to look there's an app that I use fairly cheap it's called "the photographers ephemeris or (tpe)"I suggest investing or even looking for a free version of those apps it can be a photographer's best friend! Especially for someone who's starting out in photography because what's the most important thing about real estate? Location location in photography your lighting means everything those are just some of them technical things someone starting out in photography should focus on but the main thing is just getting out there and snapping photos ????????????????
