Location
This is Glade Creek Grist Mill. Located in Babcock State Park in the New River Gorge area of West Virginia.Time
Time was approximately 2PMLighting
Because of the time of day, I was having trouble with the sun. I had to keep trying different positions using tall trees to block the sun. I also had to contend with a lot of other people trying to take pictures. I took over two dozen pictures from various positions, each time waiting for people to move out of my frame and the light constantly changing.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D5000 with an 18-55 3.5 kit lens, hand held.Inspiration
I was researching the New River Gorge. The Glade Creek Grist Mill came up as a place of interest. I had to go check it out!Editing
Very little processing. I brought up the exposure, lightened up the shadows and increased color saturation a little. In my camera bag
I'm retired so I don't have a big budget. I have the Nikon D5000, 18-55 and 55-200 kit lenses Also use a Manfrotto Befree advanced travel tripod.Feedback
Go early to avoid the crowds and use the morning light. This was a 4 1/2 hour drive for me, so I had to use the midday light.
