Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a old coal slag heap which has been stood for years and now as formed into a beautiful and tranquil place for dog walks or nice strolls.

Time

I normally take the dogs out after I take my son to school and grab my camera and leash up the dogs. I take them through some woods and around some farmers fields (the scenic route) this is a great way to venture through much terrain and photograph a variety of things aswell as the dogs and it creates different natural backgrounds. So I would say this photograph was around 11 am.

Lighting

It was a bright day compared to the ones we usually get here in the UK so I was able to increase my shutter speed and capture some great moments that day. It was bright so I had to be carful of lens glare.

Equipment

As I'm new to photography and only do it as a hobby theres not much I my bag, just a canon eos 400d, a canon 17-55 and a tamron 70-300mm ld a17 lens this is the lens the image was captured with.

Inspiration

I have many pictures of my dogs as there kind of my lab rats for learning photography but this image struck me as it shows elegance of the dog and it proved to me I was getting better at photography.

Editing

Not much just abit of contrast editing as I only have Photoshop express so this limits alot of capabilities.

In my camera bag

As before I'm fairly new so all I have is a Canon 17-55 a tamron 70-300mm and that is it. That way I can concentrate on progressing my skills and then move on to better equipment.

Feedback

Get low and far enough away to not distract your canine companion. I just keep shooting look for traits your dog as what make it unique like roxy here she as her mouth slightly open and her tongue slightly curled at the tip either that or she as it flopped out.
