Behind The Lens

Location

This shot is just inside the main door area of St Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne.

Time

This was mid morning.

Lighting

The light wasn't directly shining onto the stained glass, but still enough for the colours in the glass to pop a little.

Equipment

I use a Canon 6D and the wifi feature to my phone as I placed the camera on the floor. The lens was Canon's amazing 11-24mm F4 L series glass.

Inspiration

I had been into the church previously and wished I had a wide lens to get this shot. So when I was at a photography event and the opportunity to try the wide 11-24 I knew where I wanted to go and the shot to try and get.

Editing

I use Lightroom and the sliders to adjust Contrast, Exposure, Highlights etc. I try not to go overboard with adjustments and keep the changes to a minimum .

In my camera bag

I have just got myself a 100-400 F4 USMll Lens and my go to 24-105 F4 are my bag. My Canon 6D camera. A flash and small defuser extra batteries for camera and flash. Mini tripod.

Feedback

Check to see if you can shoot where you want to first. Symmetry of the shot. Light and shadows are all important a tripod or as I did the floor could be used to shoot with longer exposures.
