I took this photo of Bear in our kitchen when he was 5 months old. He’s impossible to keep still for the camera (when not sleeping) so I taped his favourite treat to the top of my camera.Time
It was after his lunchtime walk when he had used up some of his fast recharging energy.Lighting
We have glass doors in the kitchen which let lovely soft light in. I don’t like to use flash on Bear as it scares him so this light was perfect for the shot. I had him sit with the light only hitting one side of his face to give the feeling of more depth and shadow.Equipment
I used my Canon 5D MK11 and my sigma 40mm Lens. I adore this lens.Inspiration
Simply Bear.. I can’t get enough of his face.Editing
I didn’t feel the image needed any post processing. He had asked for wrinkle reduction but I assured him they were beautiful on him.In my camera bag
My trusty Canon 5D MK11 with 24-105 lens and my sigma 40mm lens are my favourites to reach for.Feedback
If you are trying to keep your dog still for an ‘eyes to lens’ shot, treats will be your best friend. Make sure you reward them after every few clicks. Keep the background as plain as possible and try to avoid flash as it can startle pets. Oh and lots of patience for our furry friends!
