The Wreathed Hornbill (here seen at the Atlanta Zoo) is monogamous like all other hornbills. They have a unique reproductive behaviour - which sucks for the female - wherein the male will keep the female confined in a nest cavity where she lays the eggs, incubates and finally rears the chicks. During this period, she and the chicks are fully dependent on the male who brings all the food to the nest and feeds her through a slit in the nest wall. They are found in forests from north-eastern India and Bhutan, through mainland Southeast Asia and parts of Indonesia.
