This abandoned rollercoaster, swallowed by a forest, is part of the great amusement park once called “Greenland”. Located north of Milan, it was built in 1965 and meant to be an urban getaway for families and children, with a lake, rides and several attractions. After a prosperous period during the end of the eighties, concerns about safety and hygiene led the authorities to a judiciary requisition, with a complete abandonment of the park, which has never been reopened again.
After 13 years Greenland is reduced to a wasteland, closed to the public and the nature claimed back most of the park. I managed to take this shot taking off with the drone from a field nearby, and flying at sight: I was amazed by the geometrical figure of the rollercoaster, alongside with such beautiful colours of fall season.
