The Esplanade, one of Southend-on-Sea's most famous old pubs, a great music venue throughout its (more than) 100 year life. Abandoned and left to rot since forced to close in October 2016, Four fires within a month, numerous cliff landslides, two world wars, and the floods of 1953 did not destroy her and she still stands looking out to sea. Now to be demolished by developers in favour of luxury flats. A very sad loss of an important historic building.
