Occasionally you run across those scenes in nature that catch you off-guard. They make you wonder "am I really seeing this for the first time? Why have I never seen anything like this before? Is this typical or abnormal? Am I awake?" This was one of those moments, where we stumbled across an entire tree of caterpillars, which also turns out to be a word I didn't know how to spell (that, on the other hand, is not unusual. In fact it's very common). Returning to the subject(s) at hand, I love these moments. I once stumbled across a snake den in the same way (called a "habernacium") and was equally as fascinated watching an amazing mass of snakes slithering around. But snakes, to most, aren't soothing where as caterpillars actually are.
