Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Fl at Lettuce Lake park. I love the outdoors, it’s always an adventure and you never know what you’ll see or capture!

Time

This shot was taken mid day. I was on a hike and camera learning adventure with some friends on a nice afternoon. We tracked down trails, over board walks and along a river when we spotted this beauty.

Lighting

I wanted to capture as much of the natural beauty of this peaceful creature as I could without disturbing the environment or scaring the bird and loosing the shot. I waited and lowered my self enough out of the sun to avoid streaking and was able to still get the reflection and full colors and calmness of the water.

Equipment

Shot on a Cannon 80D with a 18-55mm f/3.5 lens.

Inspiration

I am a huge outdoor enthusiast and showing others what I see, why I enjoy nature and why I love photography “through my eyes” as I say it makes me strive to capture anything and everything as there is beauty all around us. And beauty in the eye of the beholder.

Editing

No post processing, I’m all about all natural!

In my camera bag

I generally don’t carry my bag. I throw my camera: cannon 80D and 18-55mm f/3.5 lens, around my neck. Pack my water, sunscreen, bug spray, lace up my boots and hit the trails. Depending on the area I’m exploring I may grab my 75-300mm lens.

Feedback

Be calm, relaxed and get outside to enjoy the natural views. Keep your eyes open and always have your equipment as you never know what you’ll stumble upon. Most stories I’ve heard about great captures were being in the right place at the right time, so being prepared helps!
