Location
This photo was taken at the Alafia River Park south of Plant City, Florida.Time
It was taken around 5:30 in the afternoon just before the sun had dropped behind the cypress trees that line the river banks when I noticed this Tri-Colored Heron patiently waiting for a meal to swim by. I had to carefully negotiate the undergrowth and thorn covered vines while at the same time keeping an eye out for snakes and alligators' that also inhabit the river. Once in position I was able to take full advantage of the sun natural light that made a near perfect reflection in the blackish water of the Alafia River.Lighting
Using natural light allows for true colors of your subject to come through in you photograph.Equipment
I took the shot with my Canon 70D using a Sigma 150-600 lens.Inspiration
Even though I take many different types of photos. I find it not only relaxing to get away for a while and take a hike along some of the many parks as well as along the beaches here in Florida. It allows me to recharge if you will and to clear my mind.Editing
I did very little processing of the photograph other than enhance the colors. In my camera bag
Everywhere I go. I have my Canon 70D as well as the Sigma 150 to 600 lens and my Canon18 to 135mm zoom lens. A speed flash and plenty of batteries and wet gear to protect my equipment from sudden rain storms.Feedback
In shooting nature being quite and vigilant and patient is key to getting that shot. Always be mindful of the fact that nature will present itself when you least expect it. P.S. Watch where you step!
