Behind The Lens

Location

Walnut creek Metro Park in Groveport Ohio

Time

I took this photo around mid morning. We had just gotten a light dusting of snow with more projected to come, and i wanted to get a jump on finding a location to shoot.

Lighting

It was overcast day with low hanging clouds.

Equipment

I used the sony A6300 with a 50mm minolta 1.7 legacy lens

Inspiration

The snow had just began to fall and living in Ohio, it's very hard to find interesting places to shoot...not impossible, just harder to find. I knew of the tall pine section in this metro park and wanted to explore the area....especially with the contrast of the snow!

Editing

I was just beginning to discover the editing process at this stage. I used light room to bring out the mood of the day and did a little bit of sharpening due to the softness of the lens I used.

In my camera bag

I have 2 sony cameras, but only had the one at the time. I used to shoot film so I had only legacy lenses with me.

Feedback

This was a moment that taught me to always expect the unexpected. I was right in the middle of switching lenses when this buck appeared out of nowhere. I didn't want to spook it by opening my bag to get the long lens out, so I slapped the lens I was in the middle of taking off (50mm) back on and snapped away.
