Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the beach in Punta Cana.

Time

If I recall correctly, it was taken later in the day; we were preparing to head back to the hotel to prepare for dinner.

Lighting

It was our first chance to relax. We had travelled to Punta Cana to shoot a wedding for my nephew. The wedding was late (6 pm) and the ceremony took over an hour. By the time, we corralled everyone for pictures, we were starting to lose our sun. The wedding, though beautiful, from a (relatively newbie) photographers point of view, it was a little frustrating. Little to no sun - and what we had didn't last long. Lots of bystanders and onlookers from he beach - so the next day, my daughter, Shelby (in the photo) and I decided we wanted a day just for us, to travel about, explore the resort and just take some fun shots - to relax.

Equipment

To be brutally honest - I think it was my Nikon 5500 - but I had also borrowed a cannon from a friend so that I would have back up and could have one camera on a tripod while I hand operated the other. The smart thing would be to pull the photo up from the original card and hit properties and tell you 100% - but truth be told, that computer is broken and I'm currently trying to recover all the information I lost on it.

Inspiration

Exhaustion! Frustration! An over powering need to have some fun

Editing

tightened up the light a bit in photoshop, but thats it. Photoshop is not my friend. I find it very frustrating. Therefore most of my photos are simply shown as they are taken.

In my camera bag

camera, covers, batteries, three lenses, tripod, manual, light rings, towel

Feedback

I'm still a novice. My advice is simple. Keep taking pictures. Take pictures of everything. Read, listen, learn. Watch others. Have FUN
