Ti leaves may have not originated in Hawai'i, but they have been around since the beginning, brought by the Polynesians. The were considered sacred to the Hawaiian God Lono, and Goddess of hula, Laka. Hawaiians used them for medicinal purposes, survival purposes, good luck, ward off evil, wrappings for cooking, plates, cups, fishing lures woven into sandals, hula skirts, leis, rain capes, etc. There have been many uses for this plant.
